Original, natural, ecological, sustainable and verifiable. In other words, enjoyment with a clear conscience.
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is an independent, global, non-profit organisation that was founded to find a solution to the problem of overfishing. It has developed and implemented globally accepted standards for environmentally friendly and sustainable fishing. Fishing operations that verifiably meet and implement the principles of sustainable fisheries management are entitled to identify their catch with the MSC environmental label.
Additionally, the MSC chain of custody standard for seafood traceability was developed to guarantee the transparency and safety of MSC products on their way from catch to customers.
All FrischeParadies stores in Germany are certified in accordance with the MSC chain of custody standard and therefore actively contribute to the traceability of the production and trade chains of MSC products.
While stocks of red tuna are overfished, our whitemeat albacore tuna originates from sustainable fishing. The Blue Quality label guarantees that attention has been paid to environmental protection, that fishermen have equitable working conditions and receive a fair price for their catch and that our products are 100% traceable.
Iceland Responsible Fisheries.
Our Icelandic fish comes from sustainable marine fisheries. That is guaranteed by the official Iceland Responsible Fisheries seal and is verified by independent organisations. Icelandic fishery laws are among the strictest in the world and many years ago Iceland developed an exemplary sustainability strategy for its fisheries that remains unchallenged: it focuses on sustainable use of fish stocks, careful treatment of the marine ecosystem, the use of resource-saving fishing methods and strict observance of prescribed fishing quotas. That makes the best fresh fish taste even better.
Highest level of IFS certification achieved.
The International Featured Standard (IFS), the former International Food Standard, is one of the most comprehensive and demanding quality management and safety standards in the food industry.
Since 2007, individual FrischeParadies sites have confronted this challenge highly successfully within the framework of initial and renewed certification. We swiftly integrate the experiences of these certified sites into our general Group-wide quality management system.
Existing standards have been regularly updated, improved and extended in order to do justice to the requirements and circumstances of different sectors of the food industry.
For example, 2010 saw the public launch of the IFS Cash & Carry/Wholesale, a new standard that pays special attention to the processes in wholesale businesses and stores.
Certification for trading
in organic products.
In our product range we always give preference to high-quality products. Foods that bear the statutory organic seal of approval are products that have been produced in accordance with the principles of ecological agriculture. These products therefore do justice to our goal of offering customers healthy and GMO-free foods and delicacies. Compliance with the strict regulations governing the award of the statutory organic label is monitored and regularly checked on the spot by independent bodies. Following the amendment of Regulation (EEC) No. 2092/91, which came into force on 1 July 2005, businesses that market or store organic produce are also subject to monitoring. All FrischeParadies sites voluntarily undergo regular checks and are accredited for the trade in organic products.
